Homemade Marinara Sauce



  • 1 tbsp. of avocado oil
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves of minced garlic
  • 28 oz cans of crushed tomatoes in tomato sauce (x2)
  • 1 tsp. of dried oregano
  • 1 tsp. of dried basil
  • 1 to 2 tbsp. of sugar (taste preference)


  • Add olive oil to a large pot and saute the chopped onion and minced garlic and cook it for 4-5 minutes over medium heat. (I put the onion in our food processor after I chopped it up to make the pieces a little smaller.)
  • Add crushed tomatoes. (I put these in my food processor as well before I added them to my pot.) Add all of your spices and once it comes to a boil reduce the heat to low-medium and cook covered for 45 minutes. Once your time if up then continue to cook for 30 minutes uncovered.

{I served ours with Chicken Parmesan sandwiches}
